One thing to highlight is the multicultural spirit of this book, people of all races and backgrounds are portrayed sharing a moment together as neighbors. This book also shows a little bit of the life in a Haitian village. They have to walk a long way to get there, and the little girl dreams of riding a “ tap-tap”, a colorful and often crowded mini bus. The book Tap-Tap tells the story of a girl and her mother in Haiti that go to market to sell their goods. The story shows a different side of Africa, an Africa of cities with tall buildings, heavy traffic, and busy people where a little boy dreams of lions, crocodiles and zebras. The book was written by Ingrid Mennen and Niki Daly and illustrated by Nicolas Maritz.

Somewhere in Africa is about a boy, Ashraf, who lives in a big city in that continent, and that has only seen wild animals in books.
