But now, Kylie's acquired a stalker and she hasn't a clue what he wants or how to get rid of him. Her boyfriend broke up with her because she wouldn't put out. Her parents are getting a divorce for who the heck knows why. Kylie Galen has had a lot of crap tossed in her lap lately.

All of the stories then become one story, a novel, as heavenly music sings around a tree in a garden and the metaphor of karma becomes manifest in the lives of all kinds of people living a small town where voices that aren't there are heard and light starts to sing into some lives and begins to bring light to others.Īfter reading a novel like this, I think I'll try to be a good man today.Trailer Producer: Firebird Media Management Karma in The Turn of the Karmic Wheel is not abstract, but a force that appears as the ghost of an elderly man's deceased wife as she tries to lead him to find the goodness he's always had inside or as a lizard growth on the skin of a real estate woman in her upscale home as her life destroying 'deals' create inside her the nightmare that she is insideįashioned like a book of short stories were each individual tale is piled on top of each other, one character returning as another character's story finishes in a segment, The Turn of the Karmic Wheel becomes increasingly intense as Joseph, a young child imprisoned in a mentally ill woman's cage in a locked room, and Euclid, a kind old man who has failed to commit suicide even though he really, really tried, and Monty, a grifter who has developed a stink stronger than a skunk's, hurtle to their moment of destiny. What I most enjoyed in Monica Brinkman's novel is how she imagines the answer to this question. What if karma was not just an invisible force in the universe that scales good and bad behavior, but instead is manifest, a presence that is clearly alive in individual lives? A music that is heavenly or dark based upon how how someone has lived their life?
